Toulouse: An anarchist comrade arrested on December 20th

Arrested during a demonstration against the pension law on 6 June, he appeared free in court in early July. The comrade was sentenced to 10 months’ probation, 5 years’ protest ban in Occitania, and heavy fines and compensation for the cops.

On December 20th 2023 he was arrested in a park by plain clothes cops, (apparently having followed him on bicycles) who announced there was an arrest warrant for him. The lawyer who defended the cops at the July trial would have declared that after the trial she was bumped into and accuses the comrade. During his custody it was almost impossible for him to find a lawyer, most statutory clerks probably refuse to defend a client against one of their colleagues.

Friday December 22nd, after his removal and one night in prison, he appeared before the court. The comrade requested time to prepare his defence. The judge decided to place him in pre-trial detention until his trial, which will take place on 1 February at the High Court of Toulouse. The comrade is therefore imprisoned in the prison of Toulouse-Seysses.

We wish him strength and determination.

The bars will not stop our rage or our solidarity
