Jeudi 14 octobre 2021, le potager communautaire el Mirlo [le merle], un terrain occupé au centre de Rubí [à 20km de Barcelone], a été expulsé. C’était la deuxième tentative, après un premier échec en juillet, lorsqu’une soixantaine de personnes étaient venues défendre le terrain. Ça faisait cinq ans qu’on y cultivait la terre, on y faisait des concerts, des discussions et d’autres activités. La propiétaire, DomoMarina SL -une société administrée par Elena Massot [une grande bourgeoise], veut en faire des apparts de luxe, avec la complicité d’Ana María Martínez, mairesse de Rubí du Parti Socialiste Catalan.
Le soir même il y a eu une manifestation en riposte. Une cinquantaine de personnes ont parcouru le centre de Rubí. Des affiches, des tags et des oeufs de peinture ont décoré des agences immobilières, des banques et le siège local du PSC.

Rubí (Spain) : Eviction of the Mirlo squatted orchard and retaliation
On Thursday, October 14th, the community orchard el Miro, a squatted plot of land in Rubí city centre [20km away from Barcelona], was evicted. It was the second attempt, after the cops desisted to evict it in july, when some 60 people stood up to defend the place. It had been squatted for five years; the land was farmed, concerts, talks & other events were often held there. The owners, DomoMarina SL -a company owned by Elena Massot- wants to build luxury flats on the former orchard, with the Ana María Martínez’s complicity. Martínez is Rubí’s mayor, of the PSC (catalan socialist party).
That same day on the evening there was a demo. Some fifty people walked through Rubí city centre. Posters, graffiti and paint-eggs garnished real-estate agencies, banks and the PSC’s building.
